LET’S BE "SEW" HELPFUL!

UMW has taken on a spring mission project to contribute to world relief. We will be sending "sewing kits" to UMCOR (United Methodist Committee on Relief). The Circles will be participating, and we invite all in the church to join us. You can assemble a kit yourself, pair up with a friend, or contribute to the postage by writing a check to UMW with UMCOR Sewing Kit on the memo line. The value of each kit is approximately $18.00.

The kits have been carefully planned to be as usable as possible in the greatest number of situations and to be taken into international communities without problems. Therefore, it is very important that you include exactly what is requested and nothing extra. The kits may not vary in contents or quantity. All items must be new.

The kits must include the following:

• 3 yards of cotton or cotton blend fabric in solid or print in one uncut length
• 1 pair of sewing scissors (not expensive ones - $6.00 sewing scissors have been spotted at Giant.)
• 1 package of needles
• 1 spool of thread
• 5-8 matching buttons

You can be doubly helpful by buying JoAnn Fabric gift cards from UMW and then using them to buy your supplies.

Wrap the sewing notions in the fabric and place in a sealed one-gallon plastic bag. We also request a $2.00 cash donation for postage – one for UMW and one for UMCOR. Place the money in an envelope which can be easily removed from the bag. All bags will be checked before they are shipped! Turn all kits or postage checks into the office or give them to any Circle or UMW officer. DEADLINE: SUNDAY, MAY 25

United Methodist Women sell gift cards as a fundraiser. Orders are taken the 3rd Sunday of each month. May 18 is order Sunday. Order forms are on the bulletin board in the Narthex and on the Women's Board in the hallway across from the restrooms near the Fellowship Hall. You receive exactly what you pay for and we get a percentage of each order. Gift cards are great gifts for Father's Day, graduation, shopping for groceries, home projects, etc. The cards will be available approximately 2 weeks after the order.
